In which SWMBO wipes the sweat from her brow…
What a day!! Today, we didn’t use our card once. Fahbio wanted to stay in and relax. Truthfully, we all did. But when the Genusscard snaps its fingers, you jump. We decided to visit a show cave – that’s a cave with stalagmites, stalactites, paths and lights. It was about 45 minutes away but the thing about Austrian addresses is that they are all the same. Going to Weiz? There are 6 different Weizes in Austria. Winkl? Same thing. Ebersdorf? Maybe 12. It will make your GPS crazy. Heck – it will make you crazy. So today we decided to enter the GPS coordinates instead. To be sure to arrive at our destination. That was the theory. I guess the GPS coordinates were wrong. Because we went back to check and we entered them right. Whatever.
So. Today we went from RiegersBURG to RiegersBERG – a 45 minute drive and according to our GPS the location of the cave. Instead we ended up in the middle of nowhere. For a while we were really, really lost. But after asking some farmers, we discovered that we were in the middle of nowhere close to somewhere we knew – Somerradelbahn Koglhof. Say what? Yes, we were close to the slide that hurtled us down the hill yesterday.
Okay, breathe in. Breathe out. We were now 1 hour away from the cave and since we didn’t set out until 2 pm, we would miss the last entry. Frankly, I know I didn’t want to drive another hour to see some stupid cave. Did I just say that out loud? Oops.
The kids were so good in the car. We decided to head to Koglhof and treat ourselves to more screaming-down-the-hill madness. Firstborn, Fahbio and I sat this one out. I felt bad that we were having so much fun yesterday we forgot to take pictures so most of the blog photos were from Google images. Well, here was my chance to go back and do things right.
Next we had to drive to Weiz to throw the big teenager out of the car. Firstborn was going back to Graz to attend a party and spend the night with friends. Next, a little outing to Interspar. Spar is a grocery store with milk and bread. Eurospar is a big grocery store with Italian olive oil and capers. Interspar is a gigantic store with coloured pencils and chaise lounges. Then, a 45 minute drive home. Oy vey. We decide against the Zotter free movie night and get home after 7 pm.
Good-bye and good night!
